DMSO is a chemical that was / is used in paper mills. The workers in the mills found that if they had arthiritis in their hands / fingers that the symptoms would disappear after being dipped in the conglomeration. Immediately when ya sticks ya hand in it ya tastes garlic.

I used to do a lot of hiking and tennis playing. In consequence, I sprained my ankles once or twice yearly over a long period. I once went to Emergency, not knowing if an ankle was sprained or broken, and had my SPRAINED ankle put in a cast for six weeks. You can infer from this that my sprains were severe.

After discovering DMSO and applying it topically two or three times over the course of an hour, I never again had a sprain where I wasn't able to walk pretty normally, with little pain, the next morning.

When I was a teenager, I used to get boils on my nose. They'd stick around for a week or more and look horrible if I didn't lance 'em. With DMSO and no lancing, they were on the run the next day. Great stuff!

Also, I imagine, dangerous stuff. DMSO is a powerful industrial solvent. In pure form, it will dissolve the source of swelling and carry it away in the blood, right quick. I used to marvel at how I could put it on my ankle or foot and, in a matter of a minute or two, TASTE it. (It has an onion flavor.) Miraculously, it does this without any apparent side effects.

But DMSO, dabbed on your skin, enters the bloodstream almost immediately dissolving just as quickly. If you have ink on your fingers and get a little DMSO on them, you've just given yourself some ugly tattoos.

Just imagine what would happen if the DMSO itself was ever contaminated. I bet a person could die that way very easily.
