I was reading something a little while ago . . . Which said the universe was 'homogenous' -- as in one would find similar numbers of galaxies etc. whatever direction one looked in.

Which, to me, means I could find a 13 billion year old 'object' in one direction, and another 13 billion year old object looking 180 degrees from the first object.

One might as well say 'God Created the Universe'. For all that makes sense.

Zim.

Re: “If one was to point one of those space telescopes in four different directions, 90 degrees apart, how far away are the furthest galaxies in each direction?
The farthest star we've seen is 12.9 billion light years away. What's the point in wondering what's in the opposite direction? After all, "direction" doesn't mean too much when we're embedded in an expanding blob that probably isn't symmetrical. A star that appears to be to our left and another that appears to be to our right may just be stars in an arm of the expanding universe. I'd think that what you really want to know is what the farthest star is that we can see on the other side of the Big Bang. But I don't think we know where that occurred.
