They can be prevented from working in the government and being a leach on the American taxpayer again.

That will follow them around because it demonstrates to any iother organization that they lack any inhibitions about doing the right thing. If they had no compunction to do right while "serving" the country in a capacity, then employers should know they will have no reservations about their self fulfillment desires if they allwoed this same non-trustworthy person into their own organization..

Its a stain you don't want on your reputation or to haunt you the rest of your life...

That said, I realize there are many who do not do background checks and are just like these same criminals.

But at least geth them off the Taxpayer DOLE...

That's a start...

I gave it a star, but I this sounds like a joke, even if enforced, if you look at the penalties:

"The penalty structure for violations of the Hatch Act by federal employees includes removal from federal service, reduction in grade, debarment from federal employment for a period not to exceed 5 years, suspension, reprimand, or a civil penalty not to exceed $1,000.

5 U.S.C. § 7326(2). Note that this statutory maximum penalty amount is subject to annual adjustment by the Merit Systems Protection Board pursuant to the Federal Civil Penalities Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015. The current maximum penalty can be found at 5 C.F.R. § 1201.126(a).

Ohhhh, now we know why the Civil "Servants" aren't concerned about the law! This is a bad joke. The worst that can happen is you lose your job and pay $1000. The WORST...!

There isn't even a felony possibility!
