Installation of the locust hardwood has begun in our dining room. The installer is unhappy that so many of the pieces are short. They are supposed to be a mix of 2 foot, 3 foot, and 4 foot planks, but he says a typical box has just one 4 foot piece and maybe none at all. This makes the install take a lot longer than if they were all, say, 6 feet long.

We had previously ordered bamboo, consisting entirely of six-foot planks. The problem there was that the planks weren't thick enough to match well with the doors and the tile flooring. This locust wood is thicker, .75", but shorter. On the brighter side, I think it's really attractive. In fact I think I like the shorter pieces better because of the variety they lend. But the installation is going to be more expensive due to labor.

I'll post more photos later when there is more to show.
