BBQing today

We were out garage saleing today. It was pretty slow. Didn't buy much for a change.

On the way back, we hit a small town's small grocery store and I went in to buy chicken. Legs were $0.99/lb... which isn't bad. I wanted 15 pounds.

The only trouble is, they had just 12 pounds out, in five 2.5 lb packages. Rather than wipe out the meat department of its packaged chicken legs - which I felt wouldn't be very courteous to either the store or its other customers - I asked one of the employees if he could just bag up 15 pounds of chicken legs from the butcher's shop. "What do you mean?" he asked.

"I don't want to take ALL the chicken legs you've got out front," I said. "I figure this would be easier for you. I *could* take what you've already put out, if you'd rather." I said.

He grabbed a second employee and they chatted. Then he said, "The meat manager is at lunch. Just take the packages we've got out."

"Okay," I said. "That'll be fine." I headed back to the counter and took all five packages that were wrapped. As I was doing this, the second employee came out with a cart of newly wrapped chicken thigh packages. He looked at what I'd just loaded and said, "Oh. DRUMSTICKS!!!"

LOL. It seems that until then, the two guys didn't have the slightest idea what I was talking about.
