Actually, micro ... I think they understand, but they are saying that missiles ... and drones that can carry them ... are much faster ... since they are obviously not impeded by friction with the water. BUT, what they also need to acknowledge is that a large number of these cheaper fast-boats are speedy, mobile platforms for their very own missiles and drones that could project a broad, overwhelming attack against major naval vessels. Many times, with today's missiles, it only takes one hit to take out a platform - whether it be a small fast-boat or a major naval vessel that "holds more eggs in its basket," so to speak. There is potential efficacy in losing some small strike platforms in exchange for taking out very large strike platforms.
