Everything’s bigger in Texas. That includes, apparently, the stupidity of some people. This came to light on Saturday night as the Texas Longhorns hosted the UTSA Roadrunners. The Longhorns survived an early scare and handily beat the Roadrunners, 41-20. The real action, though, came in the pit of Bevo, the actual Texas Longhorn mascot.
Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods.com and Rivals.com reported that someone got into Bevo’s pit and, well, there’s really no delicate way to phrase this.
“A person with issues jumped onto the field and climbed into the Bevo pit during the UTSA game,” Richardson said. “He started to mount Bevo before an officer pulled him down and arrested him (I saw the video). Bevo was not hurt.”
This is just not the kind of thing that you expect to read. And it seemed as though just about every sentence of that report was more bizarre than the one that came before it.
Naturally, college football fans had some questions and other interesting reactions to this news.

In all seriousness, we can only hope that all parties involved are OK. But if you’re going to a game with a team that features an actual live mascot, the best advice would be to stay away. And certainly, don’t try to mount the animal, in any sense of the word. That will only lead to problems.
