Illth, coined by John Ruskin in the 1860s, is the reverse of wealth in the sense of ill being the opposite of well. [1] [2] John Ruskin, who coined the term Illth in Unto This Last. Wealth, therefore, is "The possession of the valuable by the valiant"; and in considering it as a power existing in a nation, the two elements, the value of the ...

The reason that bads and illth, inevitable joint products with goods and wealth, are not counted, even when no longer negligible in the full world, is that obviously no one wants to buy them, so there is no market for them, and hence no price by which to value them. '"Capitalism", at least as currently practiced, SUCKS. "Socialism" does, too.'

I stuck "at least as currently practiced" for a reason. Multiple reasons, actually. One was to open up a space to more cleanly discuss capitalism vs socialism.

To strip out those words and just leave "Capitalism SUCKS" is to massively misquote me and totally mistake my argument...and the purpose for the short essay.

Did you have thoughts about whole concept of "ILLth"?
