I sort of expected it. We had a choice between Rishi, who might have been a little more centrist from an economic perspective but looked a bit weaker on the EU, and Truss who was further right economically, but looked stronger on the EU.

It will be easier to recover from an economic mistake than from an issue with the EU. So given the choices, she was probably the better one, although I don't have a strong opinion.

But it's a shame all the same.

At least we don't have second amendment problems, abortion fights etc. and our Conservative Party is still in favour of science, as far as it is known, and probabilities otherwise. Also, we have a wonderfully wet Church, a fact that is a great relief by comparison with the USA.
