in order to escape from our dependence on oil and gas, whose price changes and pricing in dollars have been a nightmare for too long (let alone their effects on climate).

The Conservatives are handing huge opportunities to Labour by going back to 1980s policies, having learned nothing since then, apparently.

No problem with moderating tax costs when it can reasonably be done (eg when there's a persistent budget surplus). But trickle down and Laffer curve arguments? Gadzooks! Not again.

We know what happens when you decide not to pay your bills. No surprise. You end up indebted and encumbered by higher rates of interest. I was fine with energy subsidies. But I'm not impressed by this massive tax cut.
