IMO (not necessarily the author's) this is the first skirmish in what will eventually be recognized as WW4. The US has already lost its proxy war, and wounded ITSELF grievously, possibly mortally, in the process: it conscripted and deployed its greatest ASSET (Dollar reserve currency status) and that FAILED; in process it also hollowed out respect & morale among its own people and people around world). US "sanctions" and participating in the petro-dollar scheme will increasingly be recognized as toothless and stupid.
I think it will go down in the history books as the most pointless suicide of a world power in world history....
