Peaceful is a great place to be but vigilant at all times.

Don't be in a hurry to learn how to kill another human being. Even in time of war and in battle you will remember both those whom you killed and your friends who also were killed. Some memories are with you forever. And they are not all fond ones.

I never want to have to fire on another human being. It is the last thing I ever want to do and should be the same sentiment for everyone.

I pray that these times we live in will settle down and some sort of sanity returns to some people. I never want to see a second civil war break out here in the U.S. Or chaos and turmoil reigning supreme.

So, I would tell you, YES, learn how to defend yourself and loved ones with skill. Not having to spray bullets but to be accurate. Then, pray you never have to invoke that ability because it will stay with you the remainder of your life.

Mico, That's good to hear.

Late Friday I had an epiphany that I need to rejigger some of my priorities...AGAIN.

In particular I realized, after reflecting on what Jordan Peterson said in that Stossel interview about how MEN ought to be DANGEROUS, that I am not dangerous enough. Although I no longer have the physical constitution nor appropriate age to take up hand to hand combat training, I can still take up pistol training and, given a lot of work, eventually become considerably more "dangerous".

I am a very peaceful person. However, as Peterson pointed out, it is NO virtue to be "peaceful" AND incapable of being deadly. The virtue comes at the intersection of peaceful+DANGEROUS.

That is another change I need to find the time to make in myself. In terms of moving, I have a place in Florida now and I like hearing what DeSantis and the local police say about Second Amendment rights.
