Olives are one thing I haven't tried to eat this year. I tried in past years and gave up in frustration at the immense amount of salt required to extract the tannins. There must be an alternative method, but I culdn't find out what it was.

I think everything else I listed I tried, or more than tried. Most of the fruits went to waste because of current economics vs. time. I can't eat all the apples (but I'm trying). Persimmons I just started picking today. In a few weeks the Pomegranates should be ready. The new citrus crop should be ready by Dec-Jan. Feb-March will bring apricots again.

The year round spacing worked out better than expected. I suspect (but am in no hurry to find out) that I could feed myself and a few others year round if I can just keep everything alive. Permaculture!

I'd also like to make proper use of the huge geenhouse, I didn't do anything with that this year, but a few things grew year-round.

Re: “To pick myself up I started thinking of SOME (there are quite a few more) of the things I planted 10+ years ago which gave significant bounty this year.”
The wife and I will subsist on a chives and mint diet, both of which grow very easily up here! Oranges? Tangerines? What are those? As for your olives, have you actually tried to eat them? I've heard that they take a ridiculous amount of processing before they approach 'edible.'
