Something I noticed on the trip.
Conn, Mass, Rhode Island and Maine, police were everywhere. Every ten minutes I’d see a cop.
New Hampshire and Vermont, rarely saw any police. I think in NH I saw maybe three cops in the week we were there. Two troopers on the freeway and one in Manchester. In Vermont I only saw a couple troopers on the highway. Didn’t see any in the towns.
We had a cop follow us in Portland for 15 minutes. We didn’t even stop the car there. We just drove around for about an hour.
As soon as we got off the highway in Portland we saw about 50 homeless people in a park. Every time we turned a corner we’d see more homeless. I bet we saw a couple hundred the hour we were there. Mostly young people. Lots were South Americans. I guess the city has an open door policy for the homeless.
