Hm. How about a Trump/Gabbard ticket? Would that be different enough?

Mind you, I don't like a lot of her positions, and she'd need to have a sit-down with Trump in which she promises to back him. But, assuming she did, I think they'd be hard to beat. Tulsi would win over the Democrats who like her (and there ARE some), quell concerns that Trump is an anti-female fiend. And she's incredibly articulate (topped, among female pols, perhaps only by Kari Lake). As Veep, she can't do much harm. Vice Presidents don't have any real power unless the Senate comes up tied or a President dies.

Realistically, the Dems can afford to lose both chambers, IF THE REPUGS PULL THE SAME STUPID/CORRUPT stuff they historically do when they have advantage.

Dems will be counting on that. And so will the numerous traitorous/corrupt RINOs!

2024 will be here soon, and if the stagflation continues (and it almost certainly will) the Republican's will be framed to hold the bag. If the economy gets even worse - and I consider that as quite likely - then the Republicans will be set to take the blame in full.

The Republicans need to take the offensive and do something VERY different this time around, if they want to come into 2024 with even more momentum:

They need to DELIVER, EVEN THOUGH THEY WILL BE OPPOSED BY THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH ALL THE WAY. How are ANY good laws supposed to get passed, if the DemonRat White House declines them all? And, especially, if the RINOs are passive aggressive about things?

I think it can be managed, but it will require a whole different style of governance than the grafty "politics" the Republicans usually (actually, ALWAYS) display.

I don't want to rain on the parade. At least sanity has a chance - which it wouldn't if the Dems kept the Senate. But the chance will be squandered if the Republicans don't do something quite different from anything I've ever seen them do.

Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" was the closest I've ever seen to a sincere, intelligent attempt to govern from the Congress up. And yet that substantially failed. Why? And how can Repubs do way better?

I'm hoping Trump will keep the troops focussed and the RINOs in line. As I've said repeatedly, the Paul/Jordan leadership duo sounds like an excellent idea. But I think Trump is still required, or I don't know that the American people will be prepared to continue through what could (and, realistically, SHOULD) be pretty hard times.
