Re: “Things that are incredibly toxic have a tendency to be killing folks quickly - and as wide spread as plastics are in use today 'deaths by plastic' would be HUGE if it were very toxic.”
I read an article yesterday in a 1964 issue of Analog. The topic was the possible connection between cigarette smoke and lung cancer.

The editor, John W. Campbell, added a paragraph at the start of the article - an article he didn't write - in which he said that more evidence is needed before a causal relationship can be determined. One of his reasons was that those who experience nervous disorders often become addicted to pills, yet the pills do not CAUSE the nervous disorder. He then posited that those predisposed to lung cancer might be attracted to cigarettes due to their natural ability to FIGHT lung cancer.

John W. Campbell was a really smart guy, but his logic went right out the window when it came to the things he liked. Needless to say, cigarette smoke IS highly toxic. But it doesn't kill quickly.

'Incredibly high toxicity'?

>>>
What is the material plastic made of? Plastics are high-molecular-weight organic polymers that are made up of a number of different elements, including carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulphur, and chlorine.
>>>

I don't see it.

Things that are incredibly toxic have a tendency to be killing folks quickly - and as wide spread as plastics are in use today 'deaths by plastic' would be HUGE if it were very toxic.

I'm sure there are a number of decent reasons for reducing the use of plastics and going renewable . . . But 'toxic plastics' are not one of them.
