Democrats outrun 86 years of history
Dems should feel good about Tuesday’s history-defying election
Democrats can thank the Supreme Court and lousy Republican candidates for helping them Tuesday.
by Michael A. Cohen
Perhaps the biggest plot twist of the 2022 midterm election has been the much-anticipated red wave that never materialized. Indeed, as Michael A. Cohen writes, Democrats have so far secured a number of House seats above the usual midterm average. According to Cohen, this is largely due to the poor judgement of Republicans who, “in race after race …backed weak, pro-Trump candidates,” he writes.
“Democrats have much to be thankful for Wednesday morning and they can certainly pat themselves on the back for a race well won,” he avows. “But without Republican incompetence and extremism, the day after the midterm election would not have been as sweet.”
