...In my experience anyone paying a decent rate wants ya to lock ya money down for a dozen or so years. At 78 I am not likely to live long enough to see maturity. Before I would lock up my cash for that long, I would give it to the Hairy Krishna's.

anyone look at getting better rates, much better rates, on your money in your checking/savings vehicles?

I was looking at rates at Sallie Mae versus my local bank which gives us a pittance of less than half a percent.

I can do over 4% with a CD from SallieMae and never miss the money for the time duration versus the one tenth of one percent interest...

I am going to go have a serious talk with the manager likely today and see what they have to say... I am not happy....
