IMO, the conundrum with DeSantis is
(a) he is way MORE likely to get elected.
(b) he is way LESS likely to do the hard things required to take out the "Enemies domestic".
The problem is you can't do "B" unless you get "A". The midterms were, more than anything else, a referendum on Trump.
In other words, as fervent as Trump's MAGA followers are (and even including those such as myself who are not so caught up in Trump, the man, but like MAGA the "todo" list) I think Trump has reached the LIMIT of his acceptance. Who else could have failed to have achieved a 10+ point lead in, at least, all the red states WHEN RUNNING AGAINST BIDEN/HARRIS AND THEIR RECORD?
Trump makes people who might otherwise be converted, to choose to eat vomit, instead. He is THAT obnoxious to the majority of people in this country.
In truth, he is that obnoxious to me. I have supported him in SPITE of how obnoxious he is, by default. And he appears incapable of even "acting" like a statesman when someone won't "bend the knee" to him? He is not a psychopath, but he clinically a narcissist. That's NOT nearly as bad, but it is part of the dark trilogy of personality disorders—where people lack empathy. It is hard to sell a narcissist to have strong social decency/integrity as a value. If you've ever been screwed by a narcissist, who can never apologize or even feel much remorse, you are not likely to ever forget that.
