If the dollar remains dominant for the rest of your life, your loyalty will be rewarded. But there are many of us, and I do mean "us" since that includes me, who don't think it will survive. Bitcoin is one of many alternatives that exist right now. Most will crash and burn. But those that don't will probably do quite well.

My approach is to have some of the alternatives AS INSURANCE. Viewing them differently today is kind of dumb because you're right: Not many want to sell a hamburger and have the buyer open up his cryptocurrency wallet. We aren't to that point yet.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Well De,
Being as I like to use 'Direct Stock Purchase Plans' . . .
I really have no idea what the sales price 'is' till I get the check weeks later. But I expect that sort of behavior for stocks and mutual funds.

When I write a check to buy something, I like feeling fairly certain that the check will still have the same 'value' to the seller as I thought it did when I wrote it.
