TPTB really have a bind here. They can't plausibly disclaim her quality, nor her charisma, nor her articulation of issues, nor the issues themselves. And Hobbs is basically a racist Fetterman without excuse of a stroke.
OTOH they REALLY can't afford to have the AZ election corruption investigated and shutdown (they paid good money for that!)
So - of course - Lake has to lose to a well-known loser/pithed frog.
Increasingly, the "curtain" hiding the little man behind the curtain has been pulled back.
I think gaslighting is increasingly not just necessary, but emerging as the new "in your face" strategy. It is stunning how many people can so effectively do the doublethink required.
Doublethink is the opposite of Cognitive Dissonance.
