I just searched for infomation about this:

But even with Base, you have to accept that there will be a few drawbacks compared to MS Access, especially regarding the database’s request possibilities and the general functional range. In addition, MS Access appears to be more stable and reliable."
So...not as good as Access, but it attempts to fill that space. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more development attention.
