I remember a time decades ago when the phrase "Balanced budgets" was bandied about and never followed. Its kind of hard to enrich ones self if a budget is actually established and a responsible adult in the room is watching where those dollars are being spent and the spenders MUST be accountable.

None of the hyperbole/bluster ever came to pass.

Unless and until a totally reformed government that actually enforces a budget that restricts deficit spending no matter how much howling, this runaway freight train is carreening toward financial oblivion.

The stupid majority of american people are totally ignorant and oblivious to impacts of such things and for the most part do not educate themselves about such things.

The NATION is much like an independent COMPANY.. To be successful and and ongoing entity which grows, which was the definition a company decades ago, in that it too must grow economically if it is to sustain its appetite for spending itself into oblivion..

And there is no difference between political parties. When its their turn in office NONE of the balance a budget ad make CUTS in spending and get it under control..
Politicians love MONEY, other people's to enrich themselves while talking a big game about reigning in deficit spending.

Weh ave gheard theis bald faced lie most of our adult lives and it does appear the time to paythe piper is just around the corner...

The BITE ME group is trying to hasten the destruction of the United States with its lack of immigration and invasion controls which simple costs us all MORE MONEY...which we do not have....


So, the article is wonderful in pointing out what many of us knew and saw decades ago and it has not slowed down .

The founding father's are all ROLLING in their graves.

I am sorry, but I beleieve we need to take care of AMERICANS FIRST and any money left over should be used to pay off debt only.. SCREW the rest of the world and nations.. America has the ability and natural resources to do that..

UNtil we get rid of the current politicians and get real patriots who are only interested in American people and this nation, we are and remain screwed.....


JMO from an old guy who has watched this charade for a very long time... as has Ribit..

What the average man does not understand is that, whilst this may be the best choice for the average man and the world in general, it would be the end for those who rule the US. The US would slide inexorably into a lesser state, or even fragment, leaving the US elite with no empire to rule.

This, above all, cannot be tolerated. And, so, it’s important to understand that, to the rulers of the US empire, this is an all-or-nothing game.

And to be clear, it’s a game that cannot be won. The US no longer produces much; it no longer has a meaningful balance of trade; it’s the most indebted nation in world history; it’s broke, and it can no longer win a protracted war.

And, to reiterate, the US has no other option at this point. It has destroyed all its other options and has no way out of its dilemma – its modern-day Thucydides Trap. As such, it will not go quietly. Much like a cornered rat, it will make a last attempt to take down as many others as it can on its way out.

That should give us pause. Those who wish to avoid becoming collateral damage as the behemoth falls would be advised to extricate themselves, economically and even geographically, from the dying empire.

Good summary. It hits all the main points. Unlike the USSR, and the UK before that, the US is unlikely to abdicate the throne of empire gracefully. Too bad, but I think we voted. I think it will be more like Hitler in his bunker.
