Getting back to our Thanksgiving Dinner, we weren't disappointed and we did get turkey and lots of fixings's. Now remember, both our son and his wife have worked in one aspect of the catering industry or another for years. Currently, his wife works for a company was was selling complete Thanksgiving dinners, fully cooked and ready to take home (their normal clientele is movie and TV production companies). The central piece of course was the turkey and then whatever else you wanted to add to the package. The price started at $100 for just a turkey, but could go up to close to $300 depending on what additional items were ordered. They had just over 150 orders, but Martha cooked a few extra turkeys just in case, one of which she set aside for our dinner on Thursday.

But they started off with an appetizer tray:

Then a totally decadent dish of Baked Feta Cheese instilled with Garlic and serves with Pita Wedges and Armenian Lavash Bread:

And if that wasn't enough, there was also the Mayan Hummus with two styles of Tortilla Chips:

And when we were already stuffed, it was time for the stuffed Turkey:

And for dessert, in addition to a Pumpkin and Apple Pie (which I didn't get any pictures of), there were these simply wonderful Pumpkin Snicker Doodles:

Our oldest son is in Portland this week, and Thanksgiving was a busy day for him. Between his four restaurants in Portland, they had over 3,000 reservations for dinner on Thursday. They were open from 11:00am-8:00pm. From the way he was talking, it sounded like he touched base with all four stores sometime during the day. He stated that his management was saying that this year, it was cheaper to eat out than to cook at home. At his Portland stores, their traditional Thanksgiving dinner went for $35 with a choice of soup or salad, but dessert was extra.

On Wednesday, we took a couple of our friends out, people who we weren't going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with, to one of our favorite family restaurants in town and they were serving early Thanksgiving Dinners and so we ordered it just in case we didn't get Turkey on Thursday (but we did). I never asked the price, we just ordered four meals. Now it came with soup or salad, and included a piece of pumpkin pie. And it was a very good portion, really enough for two people:

And when the bill came, it was only $19.99 for each dinner. I was shocked. It was very good, the turkey was juicy and tender, the potatoes and gravy were great and the stuffing (it was under the turkey) was also very good and they even included some Cranberry sauce, and that slice of Pumpkin Pie.
