When we drove through Wyoming last year, I briefly caught an AM radio station that I've never forgotten. The station had a broad playset of mellow music (for which I'm often in the mood) spanning the '50s to the '90s. Unfortunately, we were travelling at some 80 mph and I couldn't listen long. I did make a point of getting the call letters, KRKK.

We were home a few days later and I made a point of seeing if the Amazon Echo could play the station. It couldn't. Nor could IHEARTRADIO.com or any other music service. The station's website had a "LISTEN LIVE" button, but it didn't work. A few months later it was still broken. That was a drag. It wasn't just KRKK's chronologically-wide range of music that appealed to me, or even that it played my favorite songs. Mostly it was that it seemed to play a lot of music that I'd never heard on the radio. 1950s crooners... Ray Charles... Dinah Shore... Brenda Lee... instrumentals... motion picture soundtracks... Broadway hits.

I'm glad to say that KRKK finally fixed the "LISTEN LIVE" button on its website. That's the only means I've found to hear the station, but it'll do. For now, I'm happy. I'm also resolving to listen, at least occasionally, to a subset of the thousands of music stations available to the Amazon Echo. There are probably many stations like KRKK in the country and perhaps the Echo can play a few of them. I just have to find 'em.

If interested, the website is 1360krkk.com .
