Naw. If Sinema votes with the Democrats, then they win 51:49. If she votes with the Republicans, then the vote will be 50:50 and Cameltoe Harris will break the tie.

Also, Sinema is the second independent. Bernie Sanders is one too. It hardly matters. I expect both to always vote with the liberals.

I think she is "bi"?

WRT "Leaves Democratic Party", I suspect it is mostly a strategic move. Think about it:

In the previous Congress, the balance of power was 50:50 with VP Harris as the tie breaker. Sinema generally came through for the Democrats when the pressure was high enough. The Dems, in return, CHANGED LEGISLATION to buy her compliance.

With Warnock's win in Georgia, the balance became 51:49, and Sinema stood to lose most of her advantage. What was she going to do? Even her threatening to abstain from a partyline vote wouldn't make any difference!

By going “Independent” she has put herself back in the catbird seat. Now the balance is 50:1:49 and Sinema IS the most important vote in the Senate!

Furthermore, so long as she doesn't actually vote Republican in any tiebreaker capacity too often, the Democratic Party won't dare actually fund a major Democratic opposition candidate in two years! And, with Arizona actually being pretty conservative, with a lot of Libertarians, Sinema is likely to pick up more Independent support and make it harder for the Republicans to successfully challenge her.

Smart move on her part, I think!
