Please allow me a brief moment of pride and a slight correction to Fiz's remark about American troops losing every war. And mentioning Vetnam.
I was there. So was Ribs albeit in different assignments. Let me say that the fights I was in were terrible. One never likes to see your brothers and friends riddled with crater size holes or missing body parts or their intetines hanging out.. Now, I cannot help that our so called Presidential leadership decided the direction and longevity or means in which we would conduct the war. BUT....... We did not lose ANY of the battles I was involved in and neither did we retreat. Yes, we had casualties and men who lost ther lives way to early. But we did not lose ANY of the battles. Our government may have finally decided to end this fiasco the way it did and trust me, I did not like it any more than anyone else. But unless you were in the field of fire and fighting for your life alongside your fellow Marine, and seeing the battle thru to a conclusion, I would correct or amend your comment.. It is NOT accurate.. I was there. So was Ribit.. Our politicians have managed to screw up more things only to be eventually bailed out by the likes of Eisenhower, Patton, Schwarzkopf, MacArthur, etc. But as far as the fights went, the vast majority of them were won by the grunts who fought them... Thanks for listening... |
