Re: “Sorry to hear you have to do these finger pricks. They can hurt and aren;t something to look forward to. Especially in the same area.”
As I told them, they make perhaps $20,000 per year from my insurance company but (understandably) want more. For that already-huge sum, they do next to nothing. They ship me additional test strips twice annually and they route my reported test result to my hospital. That's it. $20,000. Oh, yes. They also hassle and threaten their customers.

If these geniuses want to drop me as their customer, it will almost make me happy. It will give me solid grounds for filing a complaint about them to my insurance company, it might even get them DROPPED by my insurance company, and it will deprive them of "my" money. For me, there will be a small additional cost, but I'm one of those types who likes to stand on principle. If it costs me a little, I'm up for that. I think it's more likely that my insurance company will direct me to some other medical supplier. The list they gave me previously was of companies serving the New England area, but I don't need them to be in New England. My contact with the supplier is either over the phone or via US mail. I don't care if they're based in Guam.

These days, the telephone staff could be situated almost anywhere. But when I initially signed up, the guy I spoke to was in Kansas City.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

wow De. That is a real PITA.
Like you, I am on a blood thinner, a statin to help keep my bad cholesterol I am a major producer of, (I wonder if I can sell that stuff ?) and my three prescribed pills I take twice daily cost me exactly zero.. I have no monitor except seeing my cardiologist every now and then who is keeping tabs on me..

If I were you I would just buy the meter and make sure it works before returning the one back to Aetna.

Is the person calling you from here in the U.S.?
Aetna's customer service for medicare plans is not. They are in either India or some land close by.

Sorry to hear you have to do these finger pricks. They can hurt and aren;t something to look forward to. Especially in the same area.

Buy the meter. Skip the hassle... JMO....
