I have a generator and I have a backup generator. But I don't have a house with a generator jack. So neither generator would do me much good. After all, the generator has to be outside, and in this climate, you can't have a door or window cracked open to give an extension cord access.

The new house fixes this. The house and the barn were both built with generator tie-ins. If the power goes out, I can disconnect the house/barn from the utility company and hook it to my generator(s).

I am sure that by now you guys know full well the climate you live in.. I am glad it sounds like you worked hard enough to keep things "livable" and that you still have power.

DO you have a backup generator that would be large enough in power (around 100 amps) to keep y'all in electric until your line gets restored in case you do lose it for a few days? They run off propane and you can store that..

It would be a worthwhile investment for those just in case scenarios especially where you could have severe cold temps for extended time.

When one gets older they worry about everyone.. Don't mind me..
