I had to have a blood panel done this A.M. so I shut down the laptop and headed into town. When I got back, the laptop's microphone was no longer recognized.

I've had this happen before. Many times, in fact. Usually at least once a month. Twice this month. It's happened with such frequency that I've documented exactly what to do and have always blamed Microsoft, assuming that an update had been sent my way.

Today though, the fix (re-installing the audio driver) isn't working. I've tried repeatedly, each time getting a driver installation failure and . . . I just tried again, 90 minutes after the first failure . . . and now it appears to have worked.

Weird... Very weird. Now to reboot and see if the microphone returns to life. See, without the microphone, Dragon Naturally Speaking won't start. That's why I'm currently posting without my usual templates...
