We took the Texas option and got to Katy about 6:30pm last night. By the time we left our hotel in Oklahoma yesterday morning at 9:00am, the air temp was 4Ëš and the wind chill was down to -18Ëš. It snowed about an inch over night but the wind was blowing it pretty hard. The blowing snow lasted for about an hour as we headed South toward Texas. We finally left the snowy area and by the time we got to Katy the temp was 36Ëš but it was down to 22Ëš when we got back to the hotel. The problem is that the heat in the hotel room uses a heat pump and it's so cold that it just isn't producing much heat. So far the best we can do is about 68Ëš in the room.

They finally had to move us to a different room as the heat just wouldn't come on. While it was somewhat better, it was still struggling to heat the room. This morning it was 15Ëš with the windchill down to 2Ëš.

The plan is still to stay here is Katy, Texas, thru Sunday, Christmas day and celebrate with our #1 son's family. Since it appears that that storm will be pretty much over on Saturday, we'll probably leave for Michigan early Monday morning and at least spend News Years weekend with our Michigan family members, including #3 son.
