indeed it is sir! A wise thingto do in yer planning stages ahead of time.. Now all ya need is to get building the shelves. You have been extremely patient wiating to get that home built and in live in condition..

I realize its winter, which means a lot more living where you do than where ribs does or I do.. Or Beldin...

But yer builder is and has been a tad slow on getting this done for you guys so I really hope this is the year ahead in which you finally get to move into your house...

I cannot imagine going through what you both have endured and gone thru..

Re: “So I am impressed with your efforts to organize and know what you have accumulated.. That's impressive...”
I didn't have too much choice. Before I can even decide what to get rid of, I need to know what I own, its condition, its role as part of a larger set. I want to know if it's something I've read, its genre, its size (since that affects the spacing of bookshelves to erect), etc.

At a minimum, I intend to have the pulp SF and fantasy books displayed. Perhaps the suspense/horror/thriller novels too. If I do that, I'll be displaying 5,735 books... less a few duplicates.

I measured 3,378 of the pulp paperbacks and found that on average they're .78 inches wide. (Yeah, they're thin, but do you remember what paperbacks used to look like in the 1950s and 1960s?) So I'll need 4,473 inches of shelving, plus another 10% for expansion of the collection and error, so 4,920 inches. The average pulp paperback is 7 inches tall. I'd better allow for an 8 inch book. Separating the shelves by 9 inches with the first shelf on the floor means that ten shelves of 41 feet will do the trick.

It's a good thing I have an uninterrupted basement wall that should be long enough, eh?.
