Thanks for the update! Your experience is a bit different from what mine was.

We typically had around a dozen participants. It varied, of course, as we were all at different stages of our re-hab, with some new people joining us even as others were "graduating." Some of us were scheduled to be there there for more weeks than others. I think it mostly boiled down to what our various insurance companies would cover. Some patients were very bad about coming twice a week. For all I know, they may have been paying for the sessions out-of-pocket, which wouldn't have been cheap.

For no apparent reason, I was usually the youngest by a good amount - ten years, maybe. I don't remember anyone younger ever being there. There were one or two women, but neither attended regularly so that most sessions were just guys. (The nurses told me that it was NOT the norm. In their experience, there were as many women as men going through the program.) I was the only patient who'd had his chest cracked, at least early on when I asked that question. Therefore, the program I was on was always a little different from that of the others. No rowing machines for me, for example - though there were some who had to skip certain exercises for reasons of their own.

I'm glad it's going well for you. Like you, I enjoyed talking to the others while waiting for sessions to begin. They were an interesting group, and I could have seen myself being friends with several. We all had something pretty important in common! But, people came and went and and some of the ones I found most interesting vanished abruptly - hopefully because they felt that they'd done enough and not because of medical setbacks. I had to remember as I went through the program that I was actually getting better day by day while some of the others might not have been. After all, my goal was simply healing from the surgery and regaining whatever strength I'd lost while being on my back for six weeks. Theirs may have been losing weight or even fighting off whatever illnesses had put them in the hospital to begin with. It was sobering to consider.

Headed for RE-HAB and cardio strengthening in an hour.

I am wearing those exercise machines out. I should bring new bearings, springs, screws, and handbar grips with me... LOL!!!!!

It is interesting to see the very mixed age groups of people who had heart surgery the same time period that I did. I can hardly belive how many people, WOMEN and men, younger ages like in the 30's and up to about mid 70's there are..

I met a lady Wednesday while waiting for the doors to open who is likely around my age. She is a world traveler who lives in the area. She and her husband have been to over 55 countries and are headed back to Antartica after this is completed. Very interesting person.

I am not one who enjoys travelling via getting in and out of airports, taxis, strange hotel rooms, or the differing cuisines. I like my own bed. Actually I prefer my fully adjustable motorized well cushioned recliner to my own bed. I cannot sleep in bed a whole night becuase it is too hard. I sleep far better in the recliner.

So I will be sweating to the music in my own head in around an hour while being hooked up to a heart monitor and leads. It's great. Everyone should be able to enjoy doing this! lol!!!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone! CAtch you all later!
