The catch is fine print in the official rules that states:

ORIGINAL NUMBER/ACTIVATION CODE/RESERVATION CODE/INVITATION CODE/PIN NUMBER ON MAIL PIECE MUST MATCH A RANDOMLY SELECTED WINNING NUMBER TO WIN CORRESPONDING PRIZE. WINNING NUMBER(S) WILL BE DISPLAYED DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS BETWEEN CONTEST DATES AT PARTICIPATING LOCATION. WINNING NUMBER(S) MAY NOT BE RELEASED OVER THE PHONE.
This means that the real winner will be whoever has the lucky invitation code. Note the verbiage at the bottom of the image I posted that says "SCRATCH OFF THE POKER CHIPS ABOVE AND MATCH THE INVITATION CODE." Matching the invitation code can only be done at the store. Only then will you find out if you've won. Despite the claim of "NO GIMMICKS. NO GAMES." it's very much a game and the "scratch off" portion of the game has nothing to do with whether a player wins. It just defines what the player wins IF the player wins.. and the odds of that are pi$$ poor.

It's an interesting scam. Note the part about "if any of your scratch offs reveal three matching symbols, you are a winner one of these prizes! Call the event hotline immediately at 802-810-1042 and then proceed to the dealership to claim your prize!" What would the point be of calling the 802 number? I think it's probably so the store can be advised before you arrive to post your number *if* you've won. Otherwise, the store doesn't even waste its time posting winning numbers. It might also be so the store can make sure your number ISN'T displayed, even by mistake. That would be embarrassing.

Oh well. This scam had me going, briefly. I wonder what Ford hopes to accomplish with it. Just 1 person in 60,000 (the stated odds of winning are 1:60,000) who drives to the dealership thinking they've won is going to leave pleased. Now, if that were me, if I drove the 40 miles to Brattleboro only to find that I'd been tricked, then had to drive the 40 miles back empty handed, I'd be pretty annoyed and would hold a grudge against Ford from that day forward.
