Good afternoon Fiz!

I hear ya!... I actually like my Android and have for the past 10 plus years.

I recently updated my phone to a 5 G Samsung Galaxy which have excellent reputations. Prior to that I used LG androids the last one being their flagship phone. It was a great phone until I was forced to get a new one due to the 5 G requirement which my LG only had 4 G..

SO due to the fact Iwas leaving town on business in six hours I went to the store and got me a new Samsung Galaxy with 5 G. I like it a lot..

Carriers. I am with PURE TALK and enjoy good connections, service and discounted pricing for my and miz micro's monthly useage. We do not hang on our phones and use much data. So our monthly bill with a couple gigs of data just in case is about $30.00 total for both phone lines..

My phone is almost entirley used for business with rare exceptions.

Miz micro wants a newer phone. I have offered to get her an I-phone if she wants one.. Otherwise I can get her a topof the line Android phone.

Its her choice.. Anyway, I buy factory unlocked GSM phones. They are brand new and unlocked to a specific carrier. I can use the GSM because that is not the cdma that verizon uses.. GSM is by far the widest used type of signal in the world.. So its what we use..

I don;t know a wholel ot about Apple phones but iffen she wants one we can get her one from Pure TAlk Pretty inexpensively.

So we shall wait for her tomake up her mind what she wants to do... You know how that goes.........lol!!!

Micro,

The carrier should be able to transfer all that data over with no problem. Maybe call them now to make sure. If they tell you they can't easily and reliably transfer the data, I'd suggest trying a different phone store (and maybe a different carrier if you are with one of the big 3). Millions of people are faced with this choice every year. So I don't believe the phone companies aren't set up to handle it.

Other comments: Apple hardware appears to be of exceptional quality vs any of the Google phone manufacturers. My phone is probably 6 years old now and I expect it would be good for another 6 if the carrier weren't going to 5G. Apple still supports the phone with OS updates. I've never owned an Android phone but they seem to break or go obsolete a lot more quickly.

A year ago, T-Mobile *quietly* announced that all users who didn't explicitly opt out were going to be “assumed” to be okay with having data collected for advertising. I opted out, but it took some doing. I expect the other carriers to follow suit with trying to better pimp their customers, if they haven't already. The day I start getting ads on my phone is the day I look for another phone, or another carrier, or both.

But it starts with data collection. So I suggest you ask for explicit proof of where you stand with regard to Carriers respecting your privacy and no-ads needs.
