Re: “I love Henckels Knives.”
Great! I gather that it's a German brand. I heard years ago that Germany, Japan and SOMETIMES the U.S. are the only countries manufacturing decent kitchen knives. Everyone else makes junk. That's what a grocery store butcher told me.

You might remember that I bought Ginsu knives at a yard sale last summer - for $2! I assume that Ginsu is Japanese, but that set is stowed at the barn right now so I can't check to see if they're so labeled. It will be interesting to see how Ginsu and Henckels compare in heft and apparent quality.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I love Henckels Knives. Kitchen Knives. My favorite is a nine inch chefs knife I bought over a couple of decades ago.

The balance and feel of it . . . so good.

Once upon a time, a decade or so back... I pulled my old 'grocery store butcher knife', out and tried to use it. Not a good feeling. I compared it to that 'huge' (much larger but oh-so-sweet in my hands) Henckels and tossed that old piece of crap in the trash.

By the way, my Mom loved her Henckels paring knife. (Which I had bought her for Christmas one year.)

Zim.
