Although I'm sorry the nomination of Trump as Speaker didn't go further, it does sound as though Constitutionalists owe the holdouts a lot for what they accomplished.
There are a lot of Rule changes which take things back quite a distance to a more meaningful House. This ends "omnibus" bills filled with pork amendments, and forces a week delay to allow time to read bills before voting. I presume the rule changes will be binding on future House assemblies as well...unless they are actively/deliberately voted back to porkify things (Porker Pelosi would doubtless like that).
So, all in all, it doesn't seem to me to be an "embarrassment" at all but, rather, an embarrassment to the prior Houses which collected and accommodated all that CORRUPTION; Pigs like swill and most politicians like graft.
Anyway, it should be interesting to see how much difference all these changes make.
