A lot of us are very confused about how we ended up with a Woke-Marxist generation and so much drug addiction and other signs of hopelessness.
I've gradually come to the - to me, shocking - conclusion that, in general, human children are not intrinsically meant to be raised outside a strong spiritual framework. When they are, far too many become weak and, it appears, fill their emptiness with worship of whatever they can find to easily fill it. That's my new working hypothesis: either program your children with a "magical" belief system which empowers and guides them, or the world will fill it for them.
That, I think, is going to turn out to be the central lesson from the last several hundred years. However, I don't expect the lesson will be learned by most, nor for long. After all, if you dare to look through history, you see this pattern playing out multiple times.
-Christianity removed from Gernmany, Italy, Russia, Europe.
-Confusianism (also, other frameworks) removed from China and other Asian countries.
-Pantheism-Mythology removed from Rome.
-Shintoism removed from Japan.
Humans are so clever, they found obvious "nonsense" at the heart of belief systems, noticed how those belief systems often contributed to anguish later in life, and concluded it would be better not to inculcate any belief system ... and just trust children to pick up good on their own. It seemed like a sensible idea... in society after society.
Nietzsche warned us about this: what would happen when we killed "God"/Religion and left a vacuum for most.

If I had to place bets on rising cultures of the future, I would bet on countries which still have strong religious-moral underpinnings. There aren't very many countries, any more, which still have strong religious underpinnings (in any religion). "Scientism" (which is not science, nor scientific) has displaced nearly all. We've really screwed ourselves, I have come to believe.
For the most part, humans and human cognition is not "logical". Even in those who have a lot of scientific/math/technical training, this remains true. It will likely ALWAYS remain true.
And GIGO, Garbage In Garbage Out, is what appears to consistently take hold when you don't lay down strong traditions and religious/moral tracks at a PRE-conscious level. And it makes people miserable—and desperate to fill the void. And spiritually empty people, under pain, believe, and do, awful things.
That is what I've come to realize. The hard way. We weren't quite as clever with our "science" as we thought.
