Or is that unfair? Do you suppose you need to shoot up before you can handle the books, or do you think the books feed the opioid epidemic in this "vibrant and exciting" place? Or do you think this is another case of correlation is not causation?
Maybe they are feeling bad because of their "white privilege" which leads them to read the books and then, they get so depressed, they are forced to go shoot up and die?
BTW, twisted mind that I have (sorry, I can't help it) I keep thinking about Mexico and its drug cartels vs. "the good citizens of the US" and its hunger for hard drugs.
The media frames this mostly as an issue of bad Mexican government doesn't take care of its drug cartels, who are addicting innocent Americans.
But it seems to me a case can be made that cause and effect are completely turned around here.
Shouldn't the Mexican government and Mexican peoples be seeking trillions in reparations for UNITED STATES CITIZENS *CREATING* AN ONGOING BLIGHT OF DEADLY DRUG CARTELS IN MEXICO WHILE THE CRIMINAL US GOVERNMENT AIDS AND ABETS?
I mean, let's use our brains a little here and apply some common sense. Who is harming whom? Does anyone really think there would be any drug cartels in Mexico if the United States didn't have massively demand and ENCOURAGE all those drugs? Does anyone really think this starts with US citizens being forced to take drugs by evil Mexican drug lords? Wouldn't free markets suggest there would be no drug traffic across the border if not for the US CAUSING this nightmare?
