I think your sense is wrong if you are saying we are saying it can't be done. We are saying the government has no will to do anything of the sort. So, those who follow the law are actually kind of stupid (includes me, as I follow the law...probably way too much).
But why don't you turn it on the "illegal aliens" who are, under our laws, CRIMINALS? And treat all government "workers" who violate the law, and especially the Constitution, as CRIMINALS.
Very easy to clean things up. But not so long as the CRIMINALS are rewarded and normal citizens are punished.
This isn't an employer centered problem. Employers are drowning in regulations and "compliance" costs.
