No sir. I think you misunderstand my intent. All I did was show what was in place already as an employer who is supposed to keep these records of anyone they employ on file on premises until kingdom come...

Its just something that already exists and was established long ago because of the illegals crossing into the States and taking American's jobs. The employers then were tasked with checking citizenship and identity to keep it on file before employing said applicants..

I haven;t given any thought as to why or why not we can't do that or anything else. I only know what I had to do before hiring a person and thought I would just share that..

I gave up worrying about all that stuff as I have worried about it for far toomany decades already.. lol!!!!

I haven't got a whole lot of them left to worry if ya catch my meaning.. lol!!!!!

sorry de!

Re: “On top of this, employers can hardly be expected to be experts at detecting well-made fake or duplicate IDs. ”
It is my sense that you guys are all about coming up with reasons why we can't do this. I don't agree. I expect my government to know who its legal residents are and to have a means of identifying them. If that means that it needs to maintain a fingerprint database that includes everyone, then I guess that's what it means. We have a serious problem and it needs to be solved.

I understand the privacy concerns that will make many unwilling to fork over their fingerprints. A good compromise, I think, would be that the database only holds two fingerprints -- everyone's thumbprints, for instance . Or palm prints.
