Hey De,
Laws against hiring illegal aliens makes for an interesting subject. You might try searching for "law against hiring illegal aliens" . . .

>>>
8 U.S. Code § 1324a - Unlawful employment of aliens
If a person or other entity is participating in a pilot program and obtains confirmation of identity and employment eligibility in compliance with the terms and conditions of the program with respect to the hiring (or recruitment or referral) of an individual for employment in the United States, the person or entity has established a rebuttable presumption that the person or entity has not violated section 274A(a)(1)(A) with respect to such hiring (or such recruitment or referral).

What is the Penalty for Hiring Illegal Immigrants? - PRS Law Firm
Federal law states that it is illegal to not only hire an illegal immigrant but also to refer one to someone else for employment and receive a fee in return. You may also be in trouble if you hire a contractor who employs illegal immigrants.

Biden Dismantles the Ban on Hiring Illegal Immigrants - CIS.org
The law was structured as a grand bargain that exchanged amnesty for settled illegal aliens in exchange for a first-ever prohibition against the employment of those who try to come in the future. Prior to 1986, federal law explicitly permitted employers to hire illegal aliens — if found out, the illegal alien might face the consequence of deportation, but the employer was off the hook.

When Breaking the Law by Hiring Illegal Aliens Doesn't Pay
The biggest incentive for illegal aliens to come to the United States is to find work. If there are no employers willing to hire the illegal aliens, then the flood of illegal aliens will subside. The Immigration and Reform Act of 1986 outlawed hiring illegal alien workers, although common practice has proven that measure ineffective.

Re: “Does anyone really think there would be any drug cartels in Mexico if the United States didn't have massively demand and ENCOURAGE all those drugs? Does anyone really think this starts with US citizens being forced to take drugs by evil Mexican drug lords? Wouldn't free markets suggest there would be no drug traffic across the border if not for the US CAUSING this nightmare?”
Yep. You've got that right.

As for the influx of illegals, I've long been of the opinion that the desire to come here would dry up right quick if we just made it illegal to EMPLOY an illegal. What I mean is that every employer should be required to check with the IRS or with some new government agency to make sure that the person he is hiring is here legally. If not, then if the employer hires the individual, the employer would get socked with a million dollar fine and go to jail for a year or two.

How's that sound? Do you think illegals would keep coming if we had such a law? Do you think the ones already here would stay?

I've never heard a politician propose this, yet it would be relatively easy to put in place. Says a lot about our politicians, doesn't it?

Employers would need to show that they made a good-faith effort to check on the status of their employees. If they did that, they'd have done their part even if they accidentally hire an illegal. We don't want to punish employers who TRY to do the right thing. But those who fail to check yet hire anyway would get a brutal punishment. I think such a law would do wonders.
