We mentioned in a post the other day another sticking point the Left has with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis; they don’t care for his legislation making it “legal” to run down protesters. What the law actually did was indemnify drivers against liability if they were being attacked in their car during a riot and had to drive away to get to safety. Sheriff Grady Judd even brought photos to show the difference between a peaceful demonstration and a riot as “some people are slow learners.”

This wasn’t a riot, but it was yet another group of protesters deciding that blocking the road was the way to go to get their point across and change hearts and minds.

- environmental protesters close the road
- guy is in a hurry
- he slowly moves forwards
- they attack him ...

Final results:
Want to drive through too - 55.3%
That was ok - 36.5%
That was wrong - 5.6%
Let them protest - 2.7%

Tiffanie Tx (@tiffanie_tx) ~ The second they surrounded his car, I was perfectly okay with him driving through them. We've all seen what can happen once they surround you. It's like dealing with feral animals.

This gets cut off as a tweet, so here’s the whole image:

Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) ~ Perfectly legal in Florida.

Lord Bebo (@MyLordBebo) ~ Then we know why people move to Florida ...

1. He is on a roadway, not a sidewalk
2. He was defending his life and personal space

Saboteur Deetz (@tahDeetz) ~ Don't play in traffic.

Queen of Wrongthink (@sherree_r) ~ In Texas, they are working on a bill to protect the driver in this situation. God, I love Texas.

The Late Saint (@TheLateSaints) ~ It never ceases to amaze me how all protests, environmental, social, etc. always target and disrupt the lives of common people. I never see anyone attacking decisional centers and politicians. Why is that?

Jacques Alejandro (@jockohomo_lives) ~ Those places have people with guns.

At any point in time, a significant portion of Texas drivers are carrying guns ... me being one of them.

None Ya (@NoneYa09877685) ~ Sometimes you just have to “reason” with them!

GraceKelly522 (@GracePuncher522) ~ Perfectly reasonable and defensive reaction.

Eric L (@FedUp_LGB) ~ The vehicle is in the right. Technically they illegally detained them (kidnapping) and had every right to escape from the situation. The only thing I see they did wrong is they didn’t floor it. 😡

ranaway (@ranaway22337105) ~ If people surround and attack a vehicle with people inside it's their fault when the occupants quite rightfully feel threatened and take measures to get themselves to safety. With zero desire to harm anyone I would definitely put my own safety ahead of all of them.

Freedom Fighter (@FreedomNOW4U) ~ A mob of people jump on my car, they are going to be hood ornaments.

jp (@SonnyCo5) ~ This should be the outcome 100% of the time.

Jack Aubrey (@Jno_Aubrey) ~ I love a happy ending.

We’re surprised Texas doesn’t have a law in place yet when Florida and Oklahoma do. Just say you feared for your life.

Back in the late 70s, a friend of mine used to work at a Texas Instruments plant that was located in El Salvador. American personnel who worked there got extra pay, which was colloquially referred to as "combat pay." El Salvador was in some societal upheaval at the time. You could be driving along some narrow streets and suddenly find yourself trapped in an ongoing riot. Because of the unrest, Texas Instruments eventually shut down the plant. One day, he was riding in the car of an older colleague when they got trapped in just such a situation. He said it was pretty bad ... a big fight between two groups was going on, machetes were involved, and some people were getting thrown onto the hood of the car. His colleague rolled down his driver's side window a few inches, pulled out an Uzi, put the barrel through the crack in the window, and fired off a burst in the air. He said it was like an immediate parting of the Red Sea and they drove through without further incident.
