I personally belive that "progress" is what each individual defines in his/her own sphere. Things that I might not have very good opinions about like AI for example because it will definitely be misused and become very dangerous imo.

As far as the question about are "Americans" good at math, the answer is NO.. Americans are lazy and want everything handed to them without having to actually study, memorize, learn, and test for results.

I am confident there are many who are but also realize the majority are not..


That's how I see it. YMMV....

Given Plank's equation, E=hv, and Einstein's equation E=mc^2, you can spend hours contemplating the miracle that hv=mc^2. Or, you can get practical and put all the constants on one side, and realize that the hot origin and the heat death of the universe come down to the same two things: only photons and m/v...(mass divided by frequency). But moving photons have no mass.

So, it all depends on whether you are a glass half empty, or glass half full, sort of guy! And, still, there are some people who insist there is no such thing as progress.
