Microsoft, a multinational technology company based in the United States, did not disclose that the company would cast up Office installations with the latest update, which caused controversy among users.

The word salad from this article is mind boggling.
But I can only think of two reasons for this :
1.) Microsoft wants to know how many people are still running old Office(s) . . .
2.) Microsoft wants to find people running un-registered (pirate) Office.
Unless one REALLY has to have it . . . I'd say go to Open Office.
