Re: “Straw man”
I like that response.

We aren't at war with 'evil.' 'Evil' is undefined. But even if it were defined... and if we were at war with it, we'd surely be at war today with China, Iran and other Middle Eastern countries, much of Africa, much of South America, Cuba, Afghanistan, part of Mexico and - too often - with ourselves. We aren't. Hence, the notion that America is a country that wars with evil is absurd.

Historically, we've gone to war with nations that threaten the status quo as TPTB see it. From a global perspective, the status quo we fought to defend was sometimes good... but often evil in its own right. These days it's gotten worse: We war with groups that threaten The New World Order, which is what TPTB ruling the Western World wants us to embrace. The New World Order is THE most evil thing threatening the world today. If it gains steam - and it sure looks like it could - it will enslave everyone.

Wars entered simply because they were 'right" are few and far between. I'd put WWII in that category, and the first Iraq war, but no other major conflict since the 1800s. We should have stayed out of the ones that weren't 'right' and the ones in which we had no significant vested interest. Our involvement was either evil itself or was simply inappropriate due to our being here and the problems being isolated to some place else.

Straw man
A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one. One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man". The typical straw man argument creates the illusion of having refuted or defeated an opponent's proposition through the covert replacement of it with a different proposition and the subsequent refutation of that false argument instead of the opponent's proposition. Straw man arguments have been used throughout history in polemical debate, particularly regarding highly charged emotional subjects.
