Ribit: "...at the time I thought my military and my government were more or less trustworthy."
I'm with you there. That's why I am so p#ssed.

"...WWII a necessary war for the same reasons that the Russo / Ukraine war is necessary. There are mentally unstable persons in positions of power"

Do you mean like Biden? Or like Trump? Or like Idi Amin? Or like Saddam? Or like Pol Pot? Or like Stalin? Castro? Maybe

My point? Several, really.
(1) There is unlimited number of "unstable persons" (almost 8 billion, last I counted) - so you favor warring (killing and dying) endlessly..every day for eternity?

I doubt that. But it takes me to the next problems:
(2) Unstable is in the eye of the beholder. For every person you think unstable (Biden) there is someone who doesn't like Trump. And some people apparently thought JFK was "unstable", also (I mean, how could he be stable if he didn't favor going into Cuba and starting a nuclear war with Russia?)

(3) And unstable has NEVER been the US criteria for picking wars. Nor has "democracy". Nor has "humanitarian disaster" (Libya's Gaddafi was an absolute saint compared to Idi Amin or Pol Pot. And we could have taken out EITHER of those two...but we didn't give an isht about doing that.... And we not only put up with the Saudis and their endless, obvious, complete brutality and lack of human rights...we actually PROPPED THEM UP! I mean, that is like serving Satan, isn't it? And we did the same thing in Iran with the Shah. And in Iraq, Saddam Hussein was our "golden boy", in all his brutality, until he crossed us on an oil-related matter.

(3) I've noticed, and you would notice too, if you paid attention, that the US doesn't use "instability" as its criteria. Nor democracy. Nor humanitarian "niceness". Nor..... really anything at all that you would expect it to use as its criteria if it really wanted "God" to be on our side. It tends to use "oil", US banking system, hegemony, and repaying political favors (even to animals) as its primary criteria.

Which means that: "...WWII a necessary war for the same reasons that the Russo / Ukraine war is necessary. There are mentally unstable persons in positions of power" is completely detached from reality and the facts.

We fight wars because we like power and we like looting. Or, more correctly, we like making SOME of the politically connected really rich. And we don't really care how many innocent children we have to kill in order to get our politically connected criminals their payday.

Rebut any of that. Or maybe re-think Ukraine any why we are there...and why you are FOLLOWING Biden into there?
