While I think this is a stupid move, and most in the gun business from gunstore employees to gun range people agree, it does not nullify, I believe, any of what is already in the books since Parkland, and is a good set of gun laws and restrictions that is a model that works. Its one weakness is it doesn’t extend background laws to gun shows and even private sales, which allow those who could not pass a background check get a gun and be a threat to society.
The ones who carry guns around in public and are a threat to society will continue to do so.
I do think it is not for the good to carry without a permit. They should have modified the permit process instead, requiring the training class, but not the fingerprinting and long wait. The background check to buy a gun should suffice. This way they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
The real problem would be open carry. Florida is a shithole of crazies, not a Montana or Wyoming.
