The trilateral discussions accelerated in December, producing the Trilateral Statement and accompanying annex, signed by Kravchuk, Yelstin and U.S. President Bill Clinton in Moscow on January 14, 1994. Bottom line for me - the Russians are getting their tails kicked in Ukraine. Their 'invasion' is costing them a LOT more money than it is U.S. It hasn't cost any American lives, but the Russians have lost an unhealthy amount of their 'fighting age males' and it appears they are stripping their work forces of guys and sending them to die in Ukraine.
