Once again.

In 1991 the USSR imploded and Ukraine and several other former Soviet satellite states became independent nations. Crimea was recognized as being part of Ukraine.

In 2014 Russia un-lawfully seized Ukraine and half of the Donbas. Now, had Russia made peace and settled for 'half' (or so) of Donbas and all of Crimea I would not be pizzed about it. (I would not be happy, but I would not be for fighting about it.)

But in 2022 Russia tried to un-lawfully seize ALL of Ukraine . . .

Do you want to live in a world where it is OK for bigger stronger countries to seize properties and assets from smaller weaker countries?

Or do you want to live on a planet where 'Rule of Law' is adhered to?

Zim.

Ukraine has absolutely ZERO popular or moral authority to rule over Crimea. The Crimean people are NOT Ukrainians. And Ukraine's only "legal" authority relies on an administrative action taken by the now unrecognized USSR. And a further administrative action then taken taken by the corrupt, US stooge, Ukrainian govenment.

Here are the essential facts, Zim. But don't let facts, and the mountains of dead innocents, get in the way of your "GI Joe" fantasies.

Crimea is overwhelmingly ethnically Russian at around 70% of the population in 1994,[1][a] unlike any other area of Ukraine.[2][b] Traditionally it had been a part of Russia, although this had changed in 1954 with the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.[3]
...

The oblast was transferred to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1954.[3] In January 1991 the Crimean sovereignty referendum was held to increase Crimean autonomy within Ukraine by re-establishing the Crimean ASSR and approved by 94%.[8] of voters on a turnout above 80%.[9]

Ukraine decided to intervene
. On 21 September 1994 the Ukrainian Parliament renamed the Republic of Crimea as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,[28] and a week later the new Ukrainian President named Anatoliy Franchuk as the Prime Minister of Crimea.[29] On 17 March 1995, the Ukrainian parliament abolished the Crimean Constitution of 1992, all the laws and decrees contradicting those enacted by Kyiv, removed Yuriy Meshkov as President of Crimea and abolished the office itself.[30][31] After this Ukrainian National Guard troops entered Meshkov's residence,[32] disarmed his bodyguards and put him on a plane to Moscow.[33]
